New website!
Excuse me as I shovel butter chicken into my mouth as I am starving! I meant to do some chores today, but instead, I worked on my website! I've been coding and designing it for the last month or so and … it's finally done!
There were some serious frustrations along the way and I'm an immense newbie still (figuring out mobile responsiveness was … an "adventure") but it's DONE! I still have to deal with some domain stuff and the old site, but I'm excited that it exists online now, at least.
I have quite a few tasks ahead of me, as I'd like to change the CSS on the blog here to match some of the styles on the main page (a colour scheme I've started to lovingly refer to as "vaporwave"1). I want to clean up the blog structure, the pages, and make an archive I can design to suit my needs. I'll probably tinker with that over the next few weeks. I would also like to design a separate website for my writing that's a bit more fancy. I already have some ideas and colour schemes in mind.
It's actually really exciting to be creative in this way again! I used to mess around with web design back in the days of yore (when I was a teenager). By the time HTML5 released, I hadn't done much in ages. I'd moved on to cobbling together "official"-looking websites with WordPress. Sometimes I would get the site to look how I wanted, but I usually got confused by the PHP whilst in the weeds and just settled on whatever looked okay.
Anyhoo, just wanted to share my excitement, as I feel like my entries lately have been mired in sadness or confusion. Here's something fun instead! ヽ(・∀・)ﾉ
Addendum: Welp, I ended up hyperfocusing some more and changed the colour scheme of the blog! I think this is okay for now. I need a break from screens for a few days. (￣︿￣)"
I've really liked the vaporwave aesthetic and music genre since I discovered it several years ago via the Flower Shoppe album by Vektroid/Macintosh Plus! It's also the reason I started listening to Japanese city pop!↩
